Preservation & Adaptive Re-use

The majority of our projects have included existing buildings. Some of them required particular attention to historic features to satisfy both the local architecture review boards and the client’s needs and vision for the structure.

May Prentice House
Wick Poetry Center, Kent State University
Building relocation and adaptive re-use of the historic home of KSU’s first female faculty member.

Kent Wells Sherman House, Kent Ohio
Structure relocation, facade repair, interior adaptation for commercial use. The house was constructed by Zenas Kent in 1858.

Preservation Plans

We have consulted on many historic buildings, analyzing existing conditions and developing preservation priorities and evaluating preliminary plans for clients. We have worked with Ohio History Connection on evaluation of grant proposals for historic structures throughout Ohio.
